Does Black Friday matter for small businesses? What about Cyber Monday?

December 1st, 2009 · No Comments · Sales and Marketing

According to Wall Street Journal, Black Friday e-commerce sales rose by 11% compared to last year. But that statistic includes giant retailers like Amazon. What about the SMBs? Did they really gain during Black Friday?

At least based on the numbers shared by Lexiconn (a company that hosts the very popular Shopsite shopping cart platform), Black Friday may not matter for SMBs. Lexiconn reported no rise in sales last Friday for the merchants hosted on their service.

However, Cyber Monday showed an increase of 27% in sales for the same merchants.

They haven’t shared year-to-year statistics for the same days for their platform, but looks like Cyber Monday matters more for SMBs, based on just this data.
