Our team was in Toronto last week for Shopify Editions, Shopify’s event for product leaders, developers, and partners. As long-time partners with Shopify (over a decade and counting), we always look forward to connecting with their team in person, hearing about what they are building, and catching up with fellow eCommerce builders. This year’s event delivered on all of that. A few moments really stood out. This is what Ordoro took away from Shopify Editions.

The Power of Keeping Things Simple

One highlight was hearing Glen Coates from Shopify talk about product design.

He shared this insight:

“Every product starts off as simple and beautiful. But as you add more and more capabilities, it often slides down in quality.”

That hit home for us. In ecommerce and in software, it is easy to add features. The challenge is keeping the experience clear and usable as products grow.

It is a balance we think about all the time when building Ordoro.

Inspiration From Shopify’s Leadership

Another personal highlight was getting speaking with Harley Finkelstein and Tobias Lütke in person.

Tobi’s product philosophy has always been a source of inspiration for us. The way Shopify has transformed ecommerce with simplicity, power, and elegance continues to shape how we think about the tools we build for ecommerce operations.

Our paths as companies are different, but in many ways they run in parallel. Shopify makes it simple to sell. Ordoro makes it simple to ship, manage inventory, and scale operations behind the scenes. This is what Ordoro took away from Shopify Editions.

Looking Ahead

It was great to see how much energy and innovation is happening in the Shopify ecosystem. We left Toronto even more motivated to keep building tools that help our merchants grow with clarity and confidence.
